Why I do what I do
I believe that every woman deserves to have a birth and postpartum experience that they feel good about and to have their goals and preferences supported. My job as a Certified Doula and Childbirth Educator is to help each woman feel prepared, empowered, and cared for during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. I feel honored to be able to use my experience and training to provide physical and emotional support to women and couples in Mid-Michigan.

Who is The Good Doula?
My name is Erica Good, and I am a certified Doula and Childbirth Educator located in Midland, Michigan. My passion for pregnancy and childbirth started 17 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, but it wasn't until a couple of years ago when a pregnant friend said to me, "you would make a great doula!" that I decided to finally follow my dreams and pursue training and certification in birth and postpartum doula work. Birth Doula Services
Prenatal Visits
At prenatal visits, we will get to know each other while I provide you with valuable information about labor, birth, and postpartum. You will have time to share your vision about your upcoming birth, and together we will create a birth plan and practice techniques that we will use during labor. Your partner is welcome and encouraged to attend these appointments so that I can learn how I am best able to support them, as well. I take on a limited number of clients at any given time to make sure that you receive the full care and attention you deserve. By the time we finish our prenatal visits, you will feel confident and prepared for labor and childbirth.
Birthing Guidance
Imagine what it would feel like to have continuous and unwavering, professionally trained support for you and your family for the duration of your labor and birth experience. Applying counter-pressure, using the birth or peanut ball for support and positioning, and the rebozo are just a few of the many ways that I provide physical support during labor. Emotional support is just as important, and with me as your doula, you can be assured that you always have someone in your corner. I will provide powerful affirmations, support you in your choices, and empower you to make your voice heard in all aspects of you and your baby's care.
Postpartum Visits
Postpartum visits are different than postpartum care, and are included in your Birth Doula package. At postpartum visits, we go in-depth on your and your support system’s emotional, mental, and physical wellness following the arrival of your baby. We explore topics such as newborn care, breastfeeding, healthy sleep habits, postpartum mood disorders, pelvic floor health, and I am able to make recommendations or refer you on to a professional who specializes in whatever it is that you need support on.

Gold Birth Doula Package
3 prenatal visits including a 3 hour in-person childbirth education class, an online breastfeeding class, customized birth plan, ongoing support during labor, breastfeeding support for the first feed in the hospital, 3 postpartum home visits including a 1 hour in-person newborn care class with your baby within 48 hours of arriving home from the hospital, and 24/7 phone breastfeeding support for 6 weeks postpartum.
